Feb 2007: Now that we have a picture of the Cherry Homestead, we can
see resemblances to some of the pictures already on your website, line
the one of Oscar and Excil Cherry...note the upstairs windows come
almost to the roof below.  The pictures that don't look like the front, some
tended not to put so many windows and doors in back,  didn't want the
kiddos to sneak out and in.

Above from Jerome Feb 2008 by way of email.
July 2007: Have you looked for the Stanley's (Mary Etta's brother)?
I found Frank Elmer Stanley (the one that lived in Carlsbad) (b. 21MAY or MAR 1892 in Sherman,
Grayson Co, TX. ,  d 03 OCT 71 in Baird, Callahan Co, TX.  Residence in 1930 Baird, so
we may have distant kin there.

S/w Thelma J (1914-?) found at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, between Sherman and Denison.
I know J C was married to Thelma Jo, with a step-daughter Barbara.  And that pulls us back to
your E-mail, " Any Ideal Who?" , showing Stanley Bill going into a door and a lady immediately
behind with sharp features, the Cherry Group photo where #1 is Thelma Joe (you have Smith),
standing next to #8 J C Cherry, R J dates (19 SEP 1916 - 03JUL 1993)
July 19, 2007 - May have found a descendant to Frank Elmer Stanley, Mary Etta Stanley Cherry's
brother.  The Uncle Frank and Aunt Bertha I mentioned before.  Only has a mailing address, so I am
writing  a letter tomorrow.  Name is Mark Stanley, 1729 South Corning Street, Los Angeles, CA
90035-4301.  I hope to contact him, am sending him my e-mail address.  Will keep you informed.
Aug 6, 2007 - 1880 Census showed Francis Marion Cherry in Denison w/ the following kids:
Sarah 12, Samuel 10, Francis 9, William O 6, Jacob 3, and Lewis 11/12.  It also
shows a brother*in-law living w/him, a A M Cherry 66, born SC, Father from Scotland.

I thought
William Oscar above was the father of Lela Lee Cherry Neves,  if not,
correct  me.

Lela Lee Cherry Neves was born 13 Apr 1898 in Bells, died 22 NOV 1978 in Bells.  She
married John Wade Neves on 20 MAR 1916 in Grayson Co.  John was born 16 Dec 1894
in Greer, SC.  His parents were George Henry Neves and Mattie Shockley Neves.
They had two children, Doris born 4 MAY 1917, and Douglas abt 1921.
Doris married John E Hibbert in Bells.
Aug 2007:
Have contacted and heard from the Niece of Orena Smith, who was married to Kermit Preston Cherry,
son of
Francis Roy Cherry.  Maybe we can obtain more pictures of Roy or Preston/Orena family.
Hopefully contact them, since three of them would still be Cherry's.
She would be the wife of a first cousin once removed from you.
Aug 14 2007:
There is a possibility that Glendon and Francis "toots" Cherry were brothers.  On the 1920
Census with
Oscar D and Exil is the name Glendon 3 3/12 old.  Remember the picture I sent
labeled Glendon & Toots?
Sept 14 2007
Working on the
Oscar Daniel side of the Cherry Tree, I have found the following:
Oscar Daniel Cherry's wife's name was Excil Garner, his kids were Francis DeWitt "Toots"(25 May 22),
Annie Bess (25 Jul 30), Glendon (About 1917, and Billy Ray.(5 Apr 29).

This might make the "
Need Names (Cherry) picture at the Homestead read
Front Row:  Glendon, Oscar, Francis, and Billy Ray Cherry.
Son of Francis DeWitt "Toots" Cherry is a John Larry Cherry (24 Nov 46), so he may still be around.

Anyway, some good news.  My CHERRY Tree has 700 people in it and my SMITH tree has 2000.
Aug 26 2007
Nationwide Gravesite Locator.  I thought it might just be for the National Cemeteries, but it covers
all Veteran's who have received one of those VA markers.  I plugged your Dad's info
in and it showed Carlsbad Cemetery and the address!  This is helping me clear up
any veteran whose info I am not sure of.
Aug 24 2007:
Ever think about the possibility of
Sarah Paralee (Cherry) Francis being not the sister
of Nancy Edge, but the daughter of Nancy Edge, thus sister to Jacob Milam Cherry.  I
get confused.  Have run across evidence supporting both.  Me'ne Te'kel shows Sarah
Paralee and Jacob Milam, brother and sister, with Sara marrying Henry Samuel Francis
and having a son named Ben
Aug 22 2007:
Attached is a picture of
Katie Mae Cherry, your First Cousin, Three Times Removed.  She was
a First Cousin to Jacob Milam Cherry.  Sending you the entire  E-mail with the picture, so you
can see the permission to post the picture.
This woman, Sherry Crews, is your 4th Cousin.  She was specific about not posting info or
pictures of Living Parkers.

Try the following:

Look through the list and note how many relatives are there.
Oct 6 2007:
Francis Roy Cherry, Cherry, the son of Hugh Stanley'sFrancis Roy Cherry

Cherry, Preston's daughter, and almost have all identified.  As soon as I get a new printer will be
sending them to you.
Oct 14 2007: Talked to Guna Cherry, who used to married to Roy Pickford Cherry, Roy's son, but
has kept in toucg with the Cherry Family.  Asked her to look for any pictures that might help
Oct 10 2007: You asked about unusual things in the Smith Tree.  One of those kin is buried in nurse
for the Flying Tigers in pre-WWII China, another was a member of Carson's Raiders, and other
things.  I did not know about Carson's Raider's other than occasionally hearing their name, but never
knew what they did.  They were  highly trained Marines who were sent into various Pacific Islands to
conduct a Guerilla War against the Japanese in early WWII.  They also landed on
the same islands as the Invasion forces, but were normally snuck in behind enemy lines to harass the
enemy.   I am seeing several programs on the History Channel that are finally going into more details.
It is fascinating like the Cherry tree, although like I said it only covers six generations (back to 1825),
and I will research further in History when I furnish.
Jan 30 2008:
According to my research, your 30th Great Grandfather was Harold Godwinson (1022-1066).  Harold
Godwinson was the last Saxon King of England (Harold I), who only reigned Jan 1066-Oct 1066).
He died at the Battle of Hastings (1066), trying to stop William the Conqueror.
Look up Harold Godwinson on the internet.  My research has led me there twice, although the six
times I got close, my Ancestry.com shuts down and I can't get further
than Ann Godwin..   I'm there again today, but Ancestry.com has shut down again.
Jan 26 2008:
Hello,  Thought I would bring you up-to-date.  Still working Genealogy.  Finding interesting
things about our relatives.  Did you know one of the Stanley's in the 1300's was be-headed?
Of course I had always heard that one of my grand-fathers, on the Clinton side (so don't worry),
was shot for horse-stealing.
Anyway, I haven't verified it or finished it but here's where I am:
Tree                                Number of people        Generations        Surnames

Cherry                            1942                            28                        458

Direct Tree                       505                            32                        248
3/23/2008- Jerome Not sure what picture (scan) this goes to-Jerome can you help me or
is this something that we have already taken care of?  Thanks Tommie
Oct 17 2007:
Front Row:
Neta Pearl, UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN,
Unknown.  Back Row:
Milam Byron Cherry, Unknown, Bill Clinton (behind everyone),
Looks like the top of
Stanley Bill, Preston Cherry, and possibly RJ.
I am sending this to the Preston Cherry Family memerrs to see if they can help.
The back of the picture only says, year of Durinda's wedding, which was 1963.
10/16/2007 -
Glad you recovered part of the SMITH file, but most is still missing.  I had the Clinton - Harcrow line
traced to 1300's.  I still don't trust this computer,  so as soon as I get a new One, I'll take each file,
transfer it to a new file on the new computer, then erase the one on the computer.  And add
each file one at a time.      Did you look at the GEDs and see if my research is accurate or not?
Anyway, thanks for your work.
Jan 13 2008 - Maybe this will brighten your day!  According to my research, your 30th Great
Grandfather was Harold Godwinson (1022-1066).  Harold Godwinson was the last Saxon King of
England (Harold I), who only reigned Jan 1066-Oct 1066).  He died at the Battle of Hastings (1066),

Feb 13 2008:
I was all ready on the trail of this Link by tracing the Savage line up.  Got up to a family named De
Bohun, traced through the line, difficult since 11 in a row was named Humphrey, then found where
Humphrey VIII married a Princess Elizabeth Plantagenet. I had already found the Plantagenet name.
Elizabeth's father was King Edward I.   Sounds easy, but there was a lot more involved.  My
grandparents had always said we were related to kings.  Course no one brags about being related
to a
Blacksmith in the muddle ages.  I couldn't get verification from Ancestry.com, like I said it keeps deny
me access 1/2 the time.  So I went on line.     I had all ready traced Harold Godwinsson to the Battle
of Hastngs and was curious to How he looked (No Photos back then I know).  But, under "Potraits of
the British Monarchs"  I found paintings, etc.  Then I noticed some said the "Plantagenets", so I went
to town on research.  Got some of them traced by Asking for them on the internet, still sorting them
out.
In your tree, I noticed "Edmund Crouchback".  Being a History Buff, I knew a lot of Knights on the
Crusades were called "Cross Back", meaning they were entitled to wear a Cross on their Back to
signify they had been on a Crusade>  The name "Cross Back" became "Crunchback" as a
degrogatory sneer I think.  Anyway I Plugged in "Edmund Crouchback" in the internet, and the rest
By Plugging in these names and picking the best sites, like Wikipedia, I gather information.  A lot of
these names will show their ancesters, some their descendants, but most of those you have to take
with a grain of salt.   Edward I defeated William Wallace "Braveheart"  Your 29th Great Grandfather,
Harold Godwinson (Harold II) is the 29th great grandfather to Queen Elizabeth II.
2-13-2008- I am quite possibly wrong, since it depends on the Accuracy of the One World Tree,  but
according to my research and Wikipedia on the internet, we have the following relations:  (I have 3
Queens that are our Great Grandmothers
5 Kings that are our Great Grandfathers
1 Queen is a Great-Grand aunt
1 Kings is a Great Grand-Uncle
1 King is a 1st cousin, 22 times removed.
Mainly through the Plantagenet Line and 1 from the Godwine line.  The one Harold II,  of the
Godwine is also the 29th Great Grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II, who is now the monarch of
England ... I don't think she will send any money to us, though.     You do need to remember that
most of the different countries had Leaders who were related  or married each other for alliances.
One of our "Kings" marryed an 11 year old girl, who died at age 15.  His second wife was the one
who bore our lineage.
Of course, our relative lost at the Battle of Hastings, but one of them defeated William Wallace, the
character Mel Gibson portrayed in "Braveheart".    I find a lot of relatives were beheaded for picking
the wrong side, and some died a grisly death in Battle.  But you have to remember that a lot of
English Monarachs came from France or the monarch ruled France.
From what I've read, there were a lot of separate "kingdoms" in England, Scot-Land, Wales, Ireland,
etc.  But, I can determine there were a lot of them and they fought a lot ... brother against brother,
father against son, etc.  Our Harold II, who lost the battle of Hastings to William the Conqueror, had
fought and defeated two kings up by Scotland nd force marched to Hastings for that fight.  A lot of his
troops were 2 days behind.
The hardest part is that a King, like a Pope, takes on a name, usually a single name and its hard to
find their full or true name:  Richard II, Henry the VIII, Pope John, Pope Innocent, etc.  I'll send the
research as soon as I do a little more checking.  Seems like just before I send anything, I find a
thread that leads me to something else.  We are related to Richard the Lion Hearted, but I haven't
traced it yet.
2/11/2008 -    Noticed in your tree you show the father  of Henry Plantagenet as Edmund Crochback.
Abbey.Abbey.
02-11-2008-  Trying to send a picture of your 22nd Great grandfather.  According
to my research, I'm There, but I will do it again to be sure.  Can't get Ancestry.com
to work on the laptop, so I had to do it the hard way on the internet.  Hope I'm
right.
Did you get the picture website to work, need to get those photos that the kis of
preston Cherry promised.
Like I say, I may be totally off, but this is where I ended up ... fun while it lasts.
2/21/2008-
A very Good Morning to you, or "Top of the Morning, Govern'r" as the Britons Say.

Have a CD in mail to you with the CHERRY, CLINTON, and DIRECT TREES on it.  For the most
part you are the same relationship as I am to most of the people on the DIRECT Tree and  on
the CHERRY tree.  I plugged you and Theola into the tree, so just go to your name and hit the
kinship report.
Did  I tell you I found the Line to Pocahotas?  I was surprised, again to find out how so many
internet.  Theola had some Kings and Queens in her tree, i.e. she had Louis France listed,
internet.  Theola had some Kings and Queens in her tree, i.e. she had Louis France listed,
who was actually Louis IV of France.  But, you get so many tangeants you want to trace and
bypass so many you need to trace.
bypass so many you need to trace.

Would it be easier for me to resend the "Scans" rather than you trying to find them.  They're
still in my computer.
2/18/2008
but I haven't found it yet.
but I haven't found it yet.

Strange, isn't it, we can't get very far on the direct CHERRY line and I can't get very far
in the Clinton Line (only to great-grandfather),
2/28/2008
I can trace the Neil line back to  1130 to Aed Meith O Neill, how far did you go back?
Mary's father (1600) married Grace O Neil (1603) and went up that line.Mary's father (1600)
married Grace O Neil (1603) and went up that line.
Notes from e-mails from Jerome to
Tommie beginning July 2007
Jerome, just a note from me to Thank You for all that you have done, are doing
and planning on doing for us.  Bringing the past alive, the present up to date
and of course for the future, generations coming up and yet to come.  God
Bless, Tommie
